In the 21st edition of its sustainability report, Faller Packaging shows that small things can make a big difference.

Last year went well for the company: despite a difficult environment, Faller generated record sales and stepped up its commitment to greater sustainability.

Faller Packaging’s responsibility for people and the environment has long been reflected in its commitment to sustainable business practices. The company is making many adjustments to minimise and eliminate the adverse effects of its processes. Every year, it summarises its initiatives and successes in a sustainability report. The 21st edition has now been published. It presents the milestones for 2023 under the title “Shaping the Future: Faller Packaging develops new sustainability network.”

Establishing a sustainability network was an important topic for Faller Packaging last year. The goal was to bundle all activities concerning the environment, social justice and economic stability. Small teams work across locations on different tasks, such as the Sustainable Packaging Service, the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) and employee-related issues.

The fact that Faller Packaging is on the right track with its commitment has been proven by the award of the bronze medal by EcoVadis, an organisation which evaluates and promotes the comprehensive sustainability performance of companies and their supply chains. Faller Packaging improved by ten points compared to the previous year, achieving an impressive 56 out of 100 points in the key categories of environment, labour & human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement, placing it ahead of 65% of its competitors.

Still on course for growth
Last year, the Faller Group increased its turnover by 10.6 per cent to 199 million euros. Among other factors, the gradual expansion of capacity at the Polish site in Łódź contributed to this increase. “Our success is the result of hard work, the right decisions and the support of our loyal customers,” says Dr. Michael Faller, President & Managing Partner at Faller. “These numbers reinforce our commitment to continuing our business strategies and driving innovation.” The Aurora transformation project also contributed significantly to this success. With this project, Faller Packaging optimises its processes and structures to offer innovative solutions and high-performance systems to the pharmaceutical and healthcare markets. The Faller Group was also able to increase the number of its employees: At the end of 2023, it employed 1,501 people, an increase of 6.5% compared to the previous year.

A favourable forecast
Last year, Faller Packaging doubled its investments to 16.5 million euros. The company used part of this to establish a second site in Denmark, aimed at better serving the Scandinavian pharmaceutical market with folding cartons, enhancing Faller Packaging’s position within the industry. The new branch in Horsens has now joined Faller’s efficient production network.

The specialist company for folding cartons, labels and package leaflets is planning major investments in new technologies for the current year. Besides digitalisation in the printing sector, the continuous expansion of capacities is also on the agenda. “The forecasts for the next few years remain very favourable despite some uncertainty regarding printed package leaflets,” says Dr. Daniel Keesman, Chief Executive Officer at Faller Packaging.
